Die Sammlung invites authors who write in English, Hebrew, German and Yiddish to biweekly meetings where each author has the opportunity to work on a text in progress. The members come from multiple backgrounds and Jewish experiences, representing countries including Israel, the US, Canada, Argentina, Germany, and the former USSR, among others. Die Sammlung is aimed at a group of writers who are sadly unrepresented in Berlin's Jewish community, which is often rooted in religious practices and traditions. The absence of secular Jewish cultural groups has left an international community of creative Jews who do not attend synagogue or participate in the formal community isolated and longing for a welcoming community. Through collaboration, generative design and mutual feedback, Die Sammlung contributes to the vibrant landscape of Jewish literature by highlighting the diversity of stories, cultures, and backgrounds within the Jewish community and coming together to create a new school of German-Jewish literature.
